![]() It's still a wild wonderful place, and if you're a frog trying to cross Broadway, as dangerous as ever.ĮSQ: Speaking of Fun City, you were once an investigative reporter for Muppets News Flash. In fact, the Muppets were the official New York City Family Ambassadors in 2012, so we definitely still know our way around town. KERMIT: I love New York, and still spend a lot of time here. How has the city changed? Do you ever miss the danger of Fun City-era New York? ![]() You eat like that, and you'll turn green, too.ĮSQ: You used to live in New York, or at least you did in Muppets Take Manhattan. And then I wash it down with a grasshopper, or a mosquito mojito. Flies, crickets, beetles, mayflies, horseflies, cicadas, and, if I'm having friends over, millipedes. KERMIT: I eat whatever happens to fly in through the ripped screen door - frogs love ripped screen doors. Do you eat meat? Or are you a p escetarian, only you eat flies instead of fish? The jury is still out on him.ĮSQ: Tell me about your diet. except the ones that are vegetables or minerals. The fact is, almost all of the Muppets are animals. Does that count? If I strike you as an animal, you ought to meet Animal. KERMIT: I have never taken a BuzzFeed Muppet personality quiz. We Muppets are a very resilient bunch.ĮSQ: This is neither here nor there, but have you ever taken one of those BuzzFeed Muppet personality quizzes? You strike me as an Animal. I haven't talked to him in a long time, but I'm sure he's fine, despite the explosions, and other violent mishaps. I was doing schtick, and he mostly worked in commercials. It's true that Wilkins - and his partner Wontkins - started out about the same time I did, back at a local TV station in Washington DC. You must've been up all night on YouTube! Nice. KERMIT: Wow! Someone does their research. and we hope to see more of him in future projects.ĮSQ: Speaking of relatives, what ever happened to Wilkins? Last time we saw him he was. But he'll always be welcome at the Muppets. ![]() And I hear that if they reboot the Batman franchise again, he'll be up for the role of Robin. He's got a hop-on part in in Disneynature's upcoming movie Bears. He's up for the part of the half-frog in the all-amphibian version of Two and a Half Frogs. Robin knows he can play "cute," but he also wants to show he's got more range, so he's been auditioning all over town. He wants to step out from the shadow of being my nephew. The truth is, Robin is at the awkward age between tadpole and frog when you've dropped your tail, but you're not quite ready to settle down with your own pad. KERMIT THE FROG: A lot of Robin's fans told us they missed him, so we wanted to make sure he got a shoutout in the new movie. At the same time, there's a joke about how your nephew Robin seems to have been omitted from the last couple Muppet movies. We talked to the hardest-working frog in show business about his music, his diet, and his love of French New Wave cinema.ĮSQUIRE.COM: One of the main themes of Muppets Most Wanted is: family matters. Kermit's absence inevitably throws the Muppets into a crisis, reminding them how much they need their froggy leader. In the film, Kermit, playing himself, is kidnapped by criminal mastermind Constantine (also Kermit), and imprisoned in a Russian Gulag run by Tina Fey's evil warden. It's hard work, but Kermit's contributions have finally been recognized in the Muppets' new movie, Muppets Most Wanted, out this Friday. As the group's manager, he's worked at making The Muppet Show a success for the past 50 years. It's easy to forget how integral Kermit the frog is to the Muppets.
